THE STORY OF THE PANTRY AT ALL SAINTS
The Pantry at All Saints is a series of multi-organizational community service events hosted by All Saints Episcopal Church in Parma, Ohio. The Pantry began in September 2014 as a mobile pantry program of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, distributing twelve thousand pounds of fresh produce monthly to low-income households in Parma and surrounding communities, with a soup kitchen to feed our guests as they wait their turn to pick out groceries. But we’ve grown…
In 2017 we began a partnership with Rise in Love, an organization that provides immediate resources for individuals and families, as well as assisting in developing the capability to rise above their suffering through education and employment assistance. Rise in Love joins us every month to distribute nonperishable food and household supplies, and to register individuals for other programs.
In the same year that Rise in Love started attending our events, All Saints Episcopal Church added two clothing ministries. We give away hundreds of clothing items each month.
There is no residency requirement to receive food at The Pantry at All Saints, but recipients must have a valid ID. To be eligible from July 2019 through June 2020, a 1-person household must have a maximum monthly income of $2,081 (add $737 for each additional person in the household). Food is given to households, not to the individuals in a household. In other words, there is only one food pickup permitted per household.
If you have a disability that prevents you from attending, we have a proxy system that allows your designee to pick up food for you. Please ask about this when you visit.
The Mission of the Pantry at All Saints is to raise awareness of, promote advocacy for, and serve people afflicted by food insecurity and poverty, and to help families in the Greater Parma area to develop economic self-sufficiency.
The Vision of The Pantry at All Saints is to be a community that provides non-judgmental welcome, nutritious food, and warm clothing to its neighbors in need, in fulfillment of the Gospel call “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing…”.
