The Waterville Area Soup Kitchen operates The Lighthouse, a dining place at 38 College Avenue in Waterville. Guests are invited to enjoy a tasty, nutritious meal and an opportunity for socialization every Monday through Friday. Volunteers at the Lighthouse prepare and dish up a variety of appetizing menu items every Monday through Friday from 11:20 until 12:30. Guests are welcome to arrive at 11:00 to meet with friends and enjoy coffee!
WASK was organized and incorporated in the summer of 2020 to alleviate hunger in the area. For a year and a half, during the Covid pandemic, its volunteers served meals at outdoor locations, while developing its capacity and seeking an appropriate location. Thanks to the generous support of a few benefactors and hundreds of local donors, WASK’s organizers have been able to switch to indoor dining with a warm and inviting environment.
After just a few weeks of operation, the Board of WASK is looking at expanding its offerings, perhaps to an earlier opening for breakfast, perhaps to a Saturday brunch service.
