Cold Weather Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing lifesaving shelter, warm meals, and crucial support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Adams County during the cold winter months.
Cold Weather Care provides a holistic approach to intensive and personalized case management that has lead to the program’s tremendous success in transitioning homeless guests into stable housing, with a remarkable 67% of guests in stable housing at the conclusion of the 2014/15 season.
Volunteers are integral to this program, providing the day-to-day staffing necessary to operate the program as well as donating and preparing the food made available to guests. The hospitality, care, and respect offered by these dedicated and compassionate volunteers during dinner and the evening and early morning hours results in a secure, homelike environment where guests feel comfortable, accepted, and can focus on their self-sufficiency goals. We were blessed with a stable cadre of 445 volunteers serving in 2014/15 in this ministry.
