Quick Overview: Volunteers assist with sorting, hanging and folding clothing donations within the food pantry.

Mission or Broader Program Description: St. Joseph Center’s mission is to provide working poor families, as well as homeless men, women and children of all ages, with the inner resources and tools to become productive, stable and self-supporting members of the community.

Impact: Last year the Food Pantry provided enough food for clients to prepare 145,000 healthy meals at home; over half of these meals were prepared in households with young children or seniors. The Pantry also offers a variety of classes and workshops that help meet the complex physical, social, and emotional needs of our clients. The program is an important gateway to St. Joseph Center’s array of programs that can help clients make significant progress toward self-sufficiency.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: In addition to folding and sorting clothing donations, volunteers will also hang on rolling rack and place upstairs for pantry clients to access donations.

Requirements: 18 years or older, works well with others, good organizational skills and efficient.  Bilingual Spanish speakers are a plus. Bilingual Russian speakers greatly needed.
