The outreach of the Clothing Closet Mission located at the First Christian Church in Burwell continues to expand its outreach to shoppers and counties in Nebraska. Over 170 volunteers worked many hours to organize the clothing, shoes, bedding, and other items available to shoppers to make their shopping easy and enjoyable.

You do not have to be in need to visit the Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet holds a treasure chest of clothing that ranges from brand new to vintage and in all sizes from infant to XXXL. Shopping the Clothing Closet is fun, a great way to recycle clothes, and you can fill your closet for free!

The Clothing Closet is pleased to announce that it served 1,039 family members in 2019 that came from 18 Nebraska counties and even a couple of states. Over 12,000 pounds of goods went out to shoppers and generous donations reached over 20,000 pounds.

The functioning of the Clothing Closet is dependent upon several important components that collaborate to serve people in Nebraska and other parts of the world. The components that are vital to the functioning of the Clothing Closet are: facility, volunteers, donations, and the Dave Busch family.

Clothing that is not used at the Clothing Closet is transported to the Lincoln People’s City Mission in Lincoln by the Busch family. The Lincoln People’s City Mission started the TossBox mission and the Busch family is in charge of the TossBox mission locally (look for the TossBox across the street from the Pizza Palace). The Busch family willingly and generously transports clothing to the Lincoln People’s City Mission so that others can benefit from the Clothing Closet and TossBox located in Burwell. Clothing that is not used in Lincoln is then bundled and shipped to Canada, Florida, and Texas for further use and distribution. Your donation never goes to a landfill. It is used locally, in other parts of the United States, and the world. Thank you for being a part of this growing mission.

If you have any questions, wish to volunteer, make a donation, or have a special need, please call Kathy at 308-214-0798 or Sonja at 308-750-7085. For more information about the Clothing Closet email Keep Loup Basin Beautiful at info@keeploupbasinbeautiful.org or visit www.keeploupbasinbeautiful.org or like them on Facebook.
