Founded in 1905, the Helping Hand Rescue Mission is a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to changing lives in the name of Jesus by meeting people at their physical and spiritual points of need.
The purpose of the organization has not changed over time. The goal is to feed and clothe the homeless and impoverished around the community where we live. Over time the demographic has changed. For example, in the ‘70s and ‘80s there was a strong and large children’s ministry when the impoverished demographic consisted of many families. Now in this decade, our target is similar to that time frame.
Our mission is to be involved with the homeless men and women of the city. We will provide for and spiritually counsel them. We are also involved with the impoverished citizens that live in the community on the perimeter of the Mission. We assist with food, but we are also looking at education and other means of impact. Finally, the lives of the neighborhood children are being impacted with our children’s mission where we minister with care and counsel to short circuit the cycle that may take these children and produce our next generation of homeless and impoverished.
