Where

With Madera County located in the San Joaquin Valley, one of the most productive agricultural areas in the U.S., we felt strongly that there should be a way to make sure everyone at least had enough to eat. Little did we know there would be significant challenges ahead. Great freezes, water shortages, the housing boom…then bust, plus one of the most challenging economic periods in 45 years. Nonetheless, we work each day to support the food needy because we know of the struggles made by many in our region everyday who simply wish they didn’t have to worry about going to bed hungry at night. We call these we strive to help, the invisible food hungry because there is such a strong correlation between food instability and povery, and obesity. This leads some to wonder how can people be food hungry or needy when they are overweight? Since it’s known that a reduction in calories and an increase in nutrient density is needed to address this, we strive to not only feed, but, to educate those we serve about a diet high in fruits, vegetables, lean meats and low fat dairy. It’s with your help that we continue to find a way to do so…
