Hays County Food Bank provides food at no cost to low-income households and those suffering from some sort of food emergency due to job loss, medical emergencies, disasters, etc. There are no geographical boundaries to service.

We distribute fresh produce, frozen meat, shelf-stable food items, bread products, and desserts. Occasionally, we also have some dairy available.

Food comes to us regularly through our partnership with Central Texas Food Bank. We also receive food from Nighthawk Frozen Foods in Buda, local farms and gardens, and several restaurants. Although we regularly pick up food from these donors, we heavily rely on our community to host food drives.

We believe that every individual should have access to nutritious food, regardless of income level. We hope that if we can fulfill one basic need, our clients will not have to choose between food and other necessities, such as shelter, utilities, or healthcare.

We would not be able to provide the services that we do without the support of our community. We are grateful to be funded by donations (funds, food, and in-kind) from local individuals, organizations, corporations, foundations, and granting agencies.

Hays County Food Bank was founded in 1984 with the goal of serving hungry people in San Marcos. We have since grown and provide services to anyone in need in the area, regardless of address
