The Clothes Closet and Food Pantry is located in Orange Park and was established in 1952. It is entirely operated by volunteers and receives NO government funds being totally supported by donations from churches, businesses, civic organizations and individuals.
The main goal of the Clothes Closet and Food Pantry is to help people in Clay County who are in a crisis by assisting them through their situation to enable them to stand on their own again. Thousands of Clay County residents are assisted by this ministry each year.
They are given help with food, clothing, household goods, baby items, furniture, appliances and limited help with financial assistance for utilities, rent, medical and other special needs. Volunteers are needed to help with sorting clothes, data entry of clients, and organizing in our household department and special events like the Postal Food Drive.
The Clothes Closet is open Monday through Saturday 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with the exception of the 4th and 5th Saturday of the month. Mandy Nelson is a contact point for anyone interested in volunteering at the Clothes Closet. She can be reached by e-mail at texarnia@att.net.
