Carrfour Supportive Housing is a nonprofit organization established in 1993 by the Homeless Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Carrfour develops, operates and manages innovative housing communities for individuals and families in need through a unique approach combining affordable housing with comprehensive, on-site supportive services. As the leading not-for-profit provider of supportive housing in Florida, Carrfour has supplied homes for more than 10,000 formerly homeless men, women and children since its founding. We build community.

As the leading not-for-profit provider of supportive housing in Florida, Carrfour Supportive Housing currently oversees an inventory of more than 1,700 units of supportive housing across Miami-Dade County, serving approximately 3,300 residents.
In addition to developing affordable housing communities, Carrfour helps residents achieve self-sufficiency and success by offering an array of supportive services, including:
– Referrals/Advocacy: Carrfour’s supportive services staff provide comprehensive, client-directed advocacy to optimize each client’s opportunity for success. Carrfour staff works to connect clients with benefits, mental health and medical services, legal assistance, recovery support, transportation and other services to help the client achieve and maintain self-sufficiency.
– Life Skills: Many of Carrfour’s clients have either lost or never had the daily living skills necessary to maintain housing and employment, such as making a budget, paying bills, balancing a checkbook, grocery shopping, simple cooking or time management. Carrfour Service Coordinators meet with residents to help them develop these basic skills.
– Job Search & Placement: Carrfour provides hands-on job search and placement assistance to clients. Residents receive clothing for interviews, bus passes, uniforms, tools and other resources to help them gain and maintain employment.
Carrfour is also engaged in a series of programs and initiatives designed to foster independence among those in need while providing a foundation for revitalizing neighborhoods, including:
– Operation Sacred Trust: An initiative funded by a $1 million grant from the U.S. Veterans Administration Dept. (VA), which promotes housing stability among very low-income military veteran and their families who are homeless, facing homelessness, or residing in transitional housing. – Homestead Harvest Market & Farm at Verde Gardens: A component of the unique Verde Gardens community in Homestead, where residents are provided a range of on-site supportive services that integrate innovative farming techniques with much-needed job and life skills, giving them the opportunity to earn a living working at the community’s farm and public farmer’s market.
– Scattered Site Programs: Carrfour operates individual housing units “scattered” at properties within the community whereby it pays a rent subsidy and provides in-home supportive services for a family living in an individual apartment.
All told, Carrfour has provided permanent housing for more than 10,000 formerly homeless men, women and children since its founding.
